SDCC 2018 is happening in a matter of weeks. As is the usual tradition, the panel schedule for the event has been released one day at a time. Naturally, I’ve had my eye out for Pierce Brown’s name among the scheduled panels, and today, it appeared on the Saturday schedule. It looks like the Red Rising author will be among the panelists set to represent Del Rey books at the “What’s New From Del Rey Books?” panel. Here’s the description for the panel, which is set to happen on Saturday, July 21 at 7:00 p.m.:
Adventure, science fiction, fantasy, and fairy tales-the publisher of some of these genres’ best and brightest stars is here to talk about what’s next on the horizon from DelRey Books. Authors Katherine Arden (The Winternight trilogy), Pierce Brown (Red Rising series), Delilah S. Dawson (Kill the Farm Boy), Christie Golden(World of Warcraft: Before the Storm), Kevin Hearne (Kill the Farm Boy), Sylvain Neuvel (The Themis Files), and Naomi Novik (Spinning Silver) discuss their new and upcoming books with moderator Tricia Narwani (Del Rey editorial director).
The Del Rey panel will take place in Room 9 of the San Diego Convention center. From the description, it seems Pierce Brown will be among a number of Del Rey’s authors to talk about what they have coming up. It’s an evening panel that has some major competition in the form of Kevin Smith’s annual Hall H appearance, which begins at 6:45 p.m. It’s worth noting however that Ballroom 20’s last panel of the day (The Flash panel) will be clearing out around 6:30 p.m. So if you don’t want to risk the room filling up before you get there, you might want to get to Room 9 early.
Del Rey – Penguin Random House will also have a booth among the exhibitors on the main floor (Booth 2913).
We can hope that there will be a decent Howler turnout for this panel and that some have the opportunity to ask Brown a question or two. I’m especially hopeful for some Dark Age teases and maybe even an update on the status of the Red Rising TV show.
Pierce Brown will be signing autographs at SDCC on Friday, July 20 from 12:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. at the Sails Pavilion (AA18).
An SDCC badge is required to get into the convention center for the panel and autograph signing.
