Pierce Brown Shared An Update On Red God (And An Ominous Tease For A Scene He’s Writing)

Light Bringer came out last summer, which was months and months ago, so we’ve surely had plenty of time to recover from the events of the sixth Red Rising book… right? Ok, fine, I’m still not recovered, but that doesn’t make me any less excited for Book 7. But when is Red God‘s release date? While we don’t have the answer to that, Pierce Brown did offer up an update on the status of Red Rising Book 7 on his Instagram stories this week.

While showing off his blanket-curtain, Pierce Brown addressed fans via an Instagram story to assure us that all of his efforts are focused on Red God. But when is the book coming out? Well… that’s part of the bad news, as he put it:

“I have good news and I have bad news. The bad news is, the book is not finished, ergo, it has no release date yet. The good news is, it’s a fuckin’ cool book, I think. Pretty complicated. Lot of stuff to unwind and find resolution to.”

So, Red God is not finished and has no release date just yet. But it’s in the works, and Pierce Brown does sound enthusiastic about it. Maybe too enthusiastic? Because in addition to mentioning that he’s still working on the book, he casually referenced the “execution scene” that he recently wrote, which has him excited. Yikes. He also spoke about plans to make the scene a “little gory” and a “little sad.”

Whose execution did you write, Pierce Brown???

Maybe I’m ok that we probably have at least a little while to wait for Red God to arrive…

In the meantime, the paperback edition of Light Bringer is expected to hit shelves later in April. Might be time for a reread soon…

Also on the horizon, if you’re interested in purchasing a signed copy of one (or all three) of the first three books in the original Red Rising trilogy, check out the post below from Lit Escalates (or head over to their site) to see what they have planned for a limited time in early April:
